Happy Chinese New Year!

It's Monkey Year in China's traditional lunar calendar. Monkey means smart, clever and anti-authority in China's culture. I wish all people around the world can have good lucks in this Monkey year.

I will leave for Xiamen, Fujian Prov. since there is a 7-day holiday for Chinese New Year. Then I(accompanying with my wife and some friends) will also visit old villages and buildingsof native Kejia(Hakka) people.

Will too many contacts disturb one's social life?

Robert requested me times to forward linkedin connections to other guys. In a recent request message, he said, "seemed all my request will pass through you. ;) will that be a privacy problem in the future? If I have many connections who don't have so many connections outside, will that means you will have to forward lots of requests? it may consume you a lot of time to screen those not so valuable requests. "

I responsed, "Robert, I don't think it's just time-costing to me to forward requests. There are some useful information in it. By the way, I may not forward all requests based on the prioritization of them. Please be acknowledged in advance. "

Diner with yufen
Met with yufen and talked about Education/VSM/ISD for about half day, and then had dinner with those bloggers: Xuping, Yufen, XiaoxiaoFengye, Danzhu, Xiaojing, etc.

They talked a lot about "BaGua"(Not the "map of feng shui" in I-Ching, but a popular word in Chinese youth population to indicate Pop Culture related topics). :)

Also heard some stories from "Nitu", a voluteer girl from Yunnan province to help poor children to return school.

Virtual mind, or Virtual body?
If you were offered physical immortality as a "Wallerstein brain" (a human brain maintained in a jar interfacing to a virtual reality through its sensory and motor neurons), would you accept it? The question came up in an email dialogue about reincarnation between Ray Kurzweil and Steve Rabinowitz, a practicing attorney in New York City (which he says may explain his need to believe in reincarnation). ---- [Kurzweil AI]

Sounds crazy? Not really, people know their body's existence just because the nerve transfer the signals from end of body branches. If we can simulate all these signals, your don't have to need a body to receive and response the world. Is that another kind of long live? Maybe, but the problems is, is that still YOU?

Segway Robots to Team with Humans

MIT Technology Review: "Carnegie Mellon University researchers are betting that putting humans and robots on the same soccer team will encourage the kind of cooperation that leads to understanding.

The researchers have made a human-size version of their soccer-playing robots by basing the robots on Segway scooters, and they are working on a set of rules for Segway soccer, a game designed to be played by mixed teams of the robots and humans riding Segways."

Many new ideas about social software in recent talks, however, can't write them down immediately since not all talking places support wireless access. :(

Anyway, will try to document them soon after this busy week. So many visitors will arrive in Shanghai in this holiday season(Only 2 weeks to Chinese Spring Festival)

Teaching Elephants to Dance
Today the CEOs of the world??s top 1,000 companies have few tools (and little time) to help them make their organizations more innovative. They lie awake at night worrying that a faster, more innovative, and lower-cost competitor could spring up any day, eager to take big bites from their cash cows and star performers. But a set of practices called "corporate venturing" can help to rejuvenate big companies--transforming them from, lumbering organizations into nimbler and more innovative beasts. Biochip Holds Millions of Vessels
Researchers have found a way to make and organize tiny, self-organizing containers that could be used on labs-on-a-chip. How tiny? Each vessel holds only a few millionths of a billionth of a milliliter. ---[MIT Technology Review]

I'm a blogholic
Recommended by zheng, I took this quiz and got 88% result. So it means I'm a blogholic, doesn't it?

I'd like to see anyone translate it into Chinese to have Bloggers here to get more knowledge about blogging.
