Update: GWA works hereI just found that I can use GWA(Google Web Accelerator) in my office. I'm not sure if it's also avaible in my home. I can use it to access BBC news, as well any blogspot sites blocked by China's Great Firewall before. So cooooooooooool.
Can Google Web Accelerator help bypass Great Firewall? The Google Web Accelerator(GWA) debuted days ago and now "
have currently reached our
maximum capacity of users".
Some Chinese bloggers has reported that it can bypass the Great Firewall with a high speed to access playboy.com,
wenxuecity, etc. that long been blocked by GFW.
But it's too early to cheer. I can't imagine any innovations in GWA except some cacheing technologies. Just like google news, it can also be easily blocked by GFW by simply putting some new urls into it's blacklist. No wonder bloggers reported again just after hours that GFW has successfully blocked GWA's channel to those blocked sites. The accelerator, no exception, crashed in front of the wall.
GWA v.s. GFW, GFW win for the first round , sigh....
Blog for human rights"
Human Rights Watch is encouraging bloggers to use their RSS feeds and blog for human rights.
HRW would like to help bloggers get the information they need to blog more frequently about human rights issues around the world. Show you care, put their feeds in your aggregator, and join the movement! "--- [
Rebecca, Global Voices Online]

the idea is cool, especially because it has harnessed the power of "Tag"-- "
human rights ". So why not give more hints to users to use
Flickr and
Delicious?
Clouds over Chinese bloggersChedong told me that some more blogs in China can't be accessed because they didn't register their site following recent regulation to force any non-commercial web sites hosted in China to claim their site in a central gov database.
A populat blogger,
Topku, also a guest blogger on cnblog,
said that his blog site was stopped by ISP without any noticifation. ISPs' working model is to shut down any hosting site first, then request the user to claim their site to restore the service.

However, when some bloggers, like
Milkliker, try to claim their blog.
He was refused by the clerk of telecom administration bureau.
Seems the "Adopt a Chinese Blog" program is so neccessary....
May 1st holiday in ChinaIt's a long public holiday in China now. The Labor Day holidy will last from 5/1 to 5/7 by moving near weekends days togther. The China government encourages people to take such long holiday to travel and improve the travelling economy. It works in the first two years when this policy initially introduced. However, more and more people are tired of such arrangement by government today. They'd prefer to stay in home to rest instead of joining huge mass anywhere.
Anyway, to the rest of us, haveing a good rest is not a bad idea. ;)
Fons, "Skype itself is limiting access to its international site in China, to get more traffic to its local partner Tom.", Derek, "It can be hard to figure out whether VoIP is blocked because it helps people communicate freely / without monitoring (thus annoying governments) or because it threatens a stable stream of revenue for established telco providers (thus annoying powerful IT entities). "
Seems only Shanghai ADSL users affected this time. Let's see what's next...
